ABSTRACT
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a serious public health problem globally. With the advent of direct-acting antivirals (DAA), HCV therapy has shifted dramatically. In the great majority of instances, DAA treatment is substantially more effective than prior IFN-based regimens. The high prevalence of HCV infection was recognized in HIV patients (with history of injecting drugs), patients undergone dialysis or cirrhosis patients. Meanwhile, DAA treatment in these groups has several differences compared to the general population. This paper aims to review the current DAAs therapy for HCV treatment and its management in special populations.
Keywords: Direct antiviral agents, DAAs, chronic HCV, hepatitis C.
