ABSTRACT
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate patient satisfaction with aesthetic outcomes and explore factors related to patients' satisfaction with aesthetics after skin grafting in traumatic soft-tissue defect patients.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 86 participants with traumatic soft-tissue defects at the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Department of Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Patient satisfaction with aesthetic outcomes was assessed using a questionnaire, and various factors potentially associated with satisfaction were analyzed.
Results: The study found that 68.6% of patients were satisfied with the aesthetic outcomes at the recipient site, while 83.7% of patients were satisfied with the cosmetic results at the donor site. Postoperative skin graft cosmetic satisfaction scores were significantly associated with age (<65 years) and educational level. Additionally, texture, color, thickness, and scar quality were identified as strong contributors to aesthetic satisfaction.
Conclusions: This study demonstrated that a majority of patients were satisfied with the aesthetic outcomes of skin grafting for traumatic soft-tissue defects. Age, educational level, and specific skin graft characteristics, such as texture, color, thickness, and scar quality, were identified as important factors influencing patient satisfaction with aesthetic results.
